WHAT TO EXPECT

The most important thing to determine during an initial assessment is if student and teacher are a good fit.

Skill assessment typically occurs via perfomance of known skills alongside attempts at new skills, as well as a simple question-and-answer evaluation of prior musical experiences and current goals.

Young beginners are primarily assessed on the following: counting to 5, the alphabet, fine motor skills, and pattern recognition.

Musical study takes time. Learning music is similar to learning a whole new language.

Materials will be customized for each student. Students are responsible for materials costs - primarily piano books, sheet music, and backing tracks. Selected materials will be based on the student’s initial assessment session, including the evaluation of their learning style, musical background, and experience level. Coursework will be supplemented by outside repertoire and additional materials whenever appropriate.
